The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has assured Nigerians that the commission will remain focused until the 2027 general elections are successfully concluded.

Amupitan made the statement on Tuesday at INEC’s World Press Conference and National Stakeholders Forum on preparations for the 2027 elections in Abuja.

He called on Nigerians and other stakeholders to support the commission in delivering credible elections, while assuring the public and the international community of INEC’s neutrality.

“We assure the nation and the international community of our total neutrality, operational excellence and the sacred integrity of the ballot box,” Amupitan said.

He urged stakeholders to work with the commission to make the 2027 elections a source of pride for the country.

The INEC chairman also appreciated the commission’s development partners for their support, stressing that the commission would remain committed to its responsibilities until the elections are concluded.

“Until the deed is done after the general elections, we can’t rest on our oars,” he said.

Amupitan also outlined plans for international observers and security arrangements ahead of the elections.

He said INEC’s International Cooperation and Partnership 2027 Election Project Plan provides a framework for managing international observer protocols, stakeholder engagement, security readiness and validated election timelines.

He added that the commission’s SERVICOM Unit was also working to improve service delivery, operational transparency and staff ethics through freedom of information and capacity-building workshops, as well as revised integrated and medical service channels.
