The Accord Party has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Osun East Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi over a viral campaign video in which he was allegedly captured telling members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to kill Accord members.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Omorogbe, the party described the alleged remarks as unacceptable, particularly with the Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15.

Accord claimed that the incident was further evidence that its members and supporters across the state were being targeted with political violence, harassment and intimidation.

The party also accused APC-linked thugs of working in collusion with security agencies, including the police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), allegations that have not been independently established.

Accord urged the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest Fadahunsi and take action against those allegedly involved in political violence.

“For a sitting senator to condescend so low to publicly threaten the lives of fellow compatriots days to the gubernatorial poll in the state is unjust and unacceptable,” the party said.

The party urged Osun residents to remain calm and exercise their civic rights without fear, while calling on international organisations to closely monitor the political situation in the state.

It specifically appealed to the European Union, United States and United Kingdom diplomatic missions, as well as the African Union and ECOWAS, to condemn what it described as anti-democratic activities.

Accord also demanded the immediate release of more than 60 of its members who it alleged had been arrested and detained in Abuja and Nasarawa State.

The party reiterated its demand for a free, fair, credible, inclusive and peaceful governorship election that meets international standards.
