A heartbreaking video circulating on social media has shown two close friends and coaches of British-Nigerian boxing star, Anthony Joshua, who lost their lives in a fatal road accident in Ogun State.

The crash occurred on Monday, December 29, in Makun area of the state, when a Lexus SUV conveying Joshua, with registration number KRD 850 HN, collided with a stationary truck along the road.

The victims were reported to have recently arrived in Nigeria to spend the Christmas holidays with Joshua before their visit was tragically cut short. Videos shared online captured their arrival at the Lagos airport, where they appeared cheerful and excited, expressing anticipation about their time in the country.

One of the deceased was identified as Sina Evovle, said to be Joshua’s Strength and Conditioning Coach. The second victim, known online as “Healthy_Mindset” and identified as Laz, was reportedly the boxer’s personal trainer. Both men were described as part of Joshua’s inner circle and had travelled to Nigeria specifically to celebrate the festive season with him.

Confirming the incident, a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, said preliminary reports indicated that two male foreign nationals died on the spot.

In a separate statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Afolabi Odunsi, attributed the crash to overspeeding and wrongful overtaking. According to him, the driver allegedly overtook from the right-hand side and rammed into a stationary vehicle.
