The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has called on Nigerians to unite in tackling the country’s persistent security challenges.

In his Easter message to Christians across the nation, Yilwatda encouraged citizens to embrace the core values of sacrifice, hope, peace, love, and national unity, noting that these principles are essential in overcoming current difficulties.

He described Easter as the cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolising the sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. According to him, beyond celebration, the season offers an opportunity for reflection on faith, resilience, forgiveness, humility, and hope in the face of adversity.

“Easter reminds us that sacrifice leads to glory, and that even in difficult times, hope can be renewed through faith,” he stated.

Yilwatda stressed that the message of Easter is particularly relevant to Nigeria’s present situation, urging citizens to remain steadfast and draw inspiration from the resurrection story despite ongoing challenges.

He called on Christians to recommit to righteous living, compassion, unity, prayer, and service to humanity, adding that the country needs individuals who not only profess their faith but also demonstrate it through their actions.

Expressing concern over insecurity across various parts of the country, the APC chairman sympathised with families and communities affected by violence, banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping. He described the losses suffered by many Nigerians as a shared national pain.

Yilwatda urged greater cooperation among citizens, institutions, and security agencies, emphasizing the need for collective vigilance and unity in restoring peace.

“In times like this, we must not allow fear or division to define us. Instead, we must stand together, support lawful efforts, and remain committed to peace and stability,” he said.

He also acknowledged the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in addressing insecurity and stabilising the country, noting that the Federal Government has continued to demonstrate commitment through reforms and strategic interventions.

The APC chairman further called for stronger collaboration among all levels of government, community leaders, and faith-based organisations to ensure lasting peace and justice nationwide.

He urged Nigerians to use the Easter period for prayers—for the nation, its leaders, and security personnel—while expressing optimism that with faith, responsible leadership, and unity, Nigeria will overcome its challenges and emerge stronger.

Yilwatda concluded by wishing Christians a peaceful and fulfilling Easter celebration, encouraging all citizens to remain hopeful, law-abiding, and committed to building a united and prosperous nation.
