Bandits have attacked three communities in Pindiga District, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, killing a 70-year-old man and abducting five others, including his two sons.

The Gombe State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, saying the attackers first stormed Rahama village, where Tela Bello Ahmadu was shot dead before his sons were taken away.

The same group later moved to Lambo village, abducting Babayo Garba, Malam Abba Musa and Baayo Bayi, and also set some houses ablaze in Galadima village.

Police Tactical Teams under Operation Hattara, alongside hunters and vigilantes, engaged the bandits in a gun battle. During the operation, Baayo Bayi was killed in crossfire, while two abductees were rescued.

The police said three bandits were neutralised, with others fleeing into the forest. Two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, motorcycles and cash were recovered.

The command assured residents that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and restore security in the affected areas.
