The State Executive Committee, SEC, of the Benue state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has affirmed the suspension of immediate past Governor, Samuel Ortom and Azua Hon Azua Ashongo from the party.

The EXCO also affirmed the suspension of erstwhile Publicity Secretary of the party, Bemgba Iortyom and Isaac Mffo, for their unfortunate snatching of materials meant for the July 27 Ward Congresses in Ushongo and Buruku local government areas respectively.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to Allnews.ng on Wednesday, by the Media Consultant, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Benue State, C. T. Hwande.

Following a unanimous voice vote by the committee and motion by Katsina Ala local government area party Chairman, Hon. Alfred Iorpav and seconded by his Obi local government area counterpart, Bulus Ogbaji.

Also, a vote of confidence was passed by the SEC, on Sir John Ngbede led State Working Committee, SWC, of the Party, describing him as a quintessential and charismatic leader who instills confidence even in times of adversity.

Moving a motion in this regard, Katsina Ala local government area party Chairman, Hon. Alfred Iorpav, said, those who want Chief Ngbede out are ambivalent fifth columnists who do not mean well for the party, and said they will not succeed.

Also speaking, North Central Zonal Secretary of the party, Maurice Tsav, State Assistant Auditor, Terna Mpem, and elder Agber Humbe, all extolled the leadership qualities of Sir Ngbede and urged him not to be deterred by antics of those who wish to distract him.

Speaking earlier, State Chairman of the Party, Sir John Ngbede said, he was encouraged by the large turnout of members of SEC even at a very short notice and promised not to hand the party over to those who will destroy it.

He reiterated his resolve to be firm and resolute as always, noting that, if he had not compromised in the past, he will not do so now that he is at the brink of his tenure of office as Chairman.

While acknowledging the presence of party stalwarts and founding members who came to witness the meeting, Chief Ngbede encouraged them to remain committed to the ideals of the party as the PDP remains the only hope for a greater and more prosperous Nigeria.

Present at the meeting were Members of the State Working Committee, party Chairmen from Ado, Apa, Logo, Ukum, Katsina Ala, Konshisha, Gboko, Tarka, Gwer East, Obi, Ohimini, Otukpo, Okpokwu, Kwande, Ushongo and Agatu local government areas with all the Assistant State officials present as well as North Central Zonal officials of the party from the state.

Also present were former Speaker Pro-Tempo, Rt. Hon Terngu Tsegba, Former Speaker Terseer Tsumba, former Deputy National Women Leader, Hon. Mrs Hannatu Ullam and former Deputy Chairman of the party in the state, Tsetim Ayargwer, among several others.
