Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has faced criticism from some of his followers on X after accusing the Arise TV Morning Show crew of showing bias in their coverage of the 2027 presidential race.

Bwala, in a post on his X handle, alleged that the programme’s anchors have strong opinions about most presidential candidates but take a different approach when discussing Peter Obi, the flagbearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, the anchors tend to soften their criticism of Obi, claiming that their tone sometimes sounds like “surrogates advising their principal.”

He also alleged that the programme had not featured any trending reports considered adverse to Obi since the former Anambra State governor began contesting for the presidency.

Bwala wrote: “Is anyone watching Arise News @ARISEtv morning show gossip trending?

“They have a strong opinion on all the candidates, but when it comes to @PeterObi, what they have is advice; even the tone of their voices when talking about Peter Obi is like surrogates advising their principal.

“I dare to say that they never had any so-called stories trending adverse to Peter Obi since Obi has been on the ballot.”

However, the comments drew criticism from some of Bwala’s followers, with several accusing him of being overly focused on Obi and cautioning him about his public statements.

One X user, @pearlywhitegem, wrote: “You are only appointed to track and talk about Peter Obi and nothing more. If Peter Obi drops today from the race your job will be terminated instantly.”

Another user, @ChukaOkrie, challenged Bwala to ask President Tinubu to participate in a presidential debate.

“This is so petty. At your age and position in this government, you should be circumspect in what you post. Your opinion rubs your principal negatively instead of positive vibes. What a shame,” @chux14319 wrote.

Similarly, @Donlnemesit accused Bwala of being frustrated by Obi’s presence in the 2027 presidential race, while @Okechukwu_leo criticised the Tinubu administration over an unrelated allegation involving the President.

The exchange has since generated further reactions on X, with users divided over Bwala’s assessment of the Arise TV programme and its coverage of presidential candidates.
