Afrobeats star Davido has come under criticism on social media following his absence from the wedding ceremony of billionaire music executive and longtime associate, Soso Soberekon.

Soso Soberekon held his wedding ceremony last weekend in Warri, Delta State, with several prominent figures in attendance.

Davido, however, was noticeably absent from the event and did not publicly congratulate the couple on his social media platforms. Instead, the singer shared updates about his trip to Dubai with members of his crew and also posted about the upcoming Osun State governorship election.

His absence has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians criticising the singer, while others defended him, suggesting he may have been out of the country or occupied with work commitments.

Reacting to the development, comedian DeeOne accused Davido of failing to appreciate Soberekon despite their long-standing relationship.

“With all the things Soso Soberekon has done for Davido, Davido should have been arranging chairs at that wedding.

“Davido is a terrible human being off social media. You did not attend the wedding, none of your crew or family members represented you, and you could not even post a simple ‘Happy married life, Soso,’” DeeOne said.

He further alleged that Davido was jealous of Soberekon’s success, claiming the singer does not like anyone surpassing him financially.

Similarly, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, expressed disappointment over Davido and his wife, Chioma, missing the ceremony.

“I’m disappointed in Davido and Chioma for not attending Soso’s wedding. The fact is, Soso Soberekon has done so much for Davido over the years,” he wrote on Instagram.

Some social media users also questioned the singer’s absence, while others maintained that there was no evidence to suggest why he did not attend the wedding.
