Works, David Umahi, has announced that the Federal Government has formally invited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to audit and verify every ongoing and completed federal road project across Nigeria.

Umahi disclosed this on Thursday during the reopening of the Keffi Flyover, which collapsed on July 4, 2025, after a container-laden truck carrying an excavator rammed into the structure.

The minister explained that involving both anti-corruption agencies is part of the government’s effort to boost transparency, enhance accountability, and rebuild public trust in the management of national infrastructure projects.

“I want Nigerians to know that I wrote to the ICPC and submitted all the projects undertaken by Mr President and the Ministry of Works from his first day in office,” Umahi said.

“We asked them to visit every state, including the FCT, to inspect, verify, and take any action they deem necessary. This has never been done before. I informed Mr President about it publicly yesterday, and I am proud of this step.”

He added that the same project list had been sent to the EFCC, which is expected to begin full deployment to states soon.

According to Umahi, President Bola Tinubu has also acknowledged the outstanding debts owed to contractors and has set up a committee to review and resolve the payments.

“Please, no more protests. You will be paid. Before December 20, your payments will be processed,” he assured.

The minister further commended President Tinubu for the swift approval of funds for the repair of the Keffi Flyover, saying: “Within 24 hours of briefing him, Mr President released the funds for this repair. That kind of speed has never happened before.”
