yi Makinde of Oyo State has announced that his administration will stop initiating or awarding new projects from September 2025, as it shifts focus to completing all ongoing projects before the end of his tenure in 2027.

The governor made this known on Tuesday during a luncheon to mark the Hijrah 1447 celebration, held at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.

Makinde stated that the decision was aimed at ensuring that his administration leaves no project uncompleted or abandoned.

“By the end of September this year — in the next eight weeks — this government will not commit to any major projects again,” he said.

“Whatever projects we have already committed to, we will see them through, because we do not want to leave any uncompleted or abandoned projects by the time we are leaving in the next 22 months.”

As part of his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, the governor disclosed that he had recently awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the Okaka-Igbojaye Road in Itesiwaju Local Government Area.

He noted that the road leads to the Kunle Afolayan Film Production Village in Igbojaye and assured residents of the area that the project would be completed before the end of his tenure.

Highlighting the spiritual importance of the Hijrah, Governor Makinde encouraged citizens to embrace the values it represents, including self-discipline, perseverance, tolerance, and good deeds.

He also expressed gratitude to the Muslim community in Oyo State for their consistent prayers and support, which he said have contributed to the peace and progress enjoyed in the state.

In closing, the governor urged religious and community leaders to continue offering guidance and constructive advice to his administration throughout the remaining months of his tenure.
