In a powerful show of respect and national unity, the National Assembly has suspended all legislative duties following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London on Sunday at the age of 82.

A statement signed by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, confirmed that all Senate and House plenary sessions have been put on hold until Tuesday, July 22, 2025, out of reverence for Buhari’s legacy of service.

“I am directed by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to inform all members of the National Assembly and the general public that all legislative activities are hereby suspended immediately until Tuesday, 22nd July.”
