Held at Alims Royal Hotel and Suites, Mabushi, Abuja, the seminar, themed “Blogging and Content: The Legality and Image of Our Nation,” was more than another media gathering. Bringing together government officials, communication experts, and digital creators under one roof was no small undertaking. It was an initiative that demonstrated both vision and leadership, and one that will undoubtedly contribute to raising professional standards within Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital media landscape.

The event drew an impressive audience of government officials, media executives, communication experts, and digital creators. Among the distinguished guests was Mallam Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Print Media, who delivered remarks on the importance of responsible communication in strengthening democracy and national cohesion. Senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation also joined the engagement, alongside respected journalists and publishers who shared practical insights on ethical journalism, fact-checking, and the legal implications of online publishing.

Speaking to participants, Minister Mohammed Idris stressed that bloggers and content creators are no longer simply individuals posting online. Before joining the Federal Executive Council, Mohammed Idris built one of Nigeria’s respected media organisations through Blueprint Newspapers and served in leadership roles within the newspaper industry. Since becoming Minister of Information and National Orientation, he has consistently advocated stronger collaboration between government and the media while championing the National Values Charter, media literacy, and a more constructive national conversation.
