Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has assured residents of greater development and improved welfare following his re-election in the state's governorship election.

Oyebanji gave the assurance shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of Saturday's poll.

The governor described his victory as a strong vote of confidence from the people of Ekiti and a clear endorsement of his administration's performance.

According to him, the election outcome reflects the people's desire for continuity, peace, stability and sustained development across the state.

He said the renewed mandate places a greater responsibility on his administration to work harder and ensure that the benefits of governance reach more communities and households.

“This mandate means that our work must touch every household even deeper,” Oyebanji said.

The governor stressed that the election should not be viewed in terms of winners and losers, urging all residents to unite and work together for the progress of the state.

He noted that Ekiti people, both in urban and rural areas, spoke with one voice through the ballot, demonstrating their commitment to growth, peace and economic development.

Oyebanji also pledged to continue serving the state with humility, fairness and dedication.

INEC Returning Officer, Professor Adenike Oladiji, officially declared him winner of the election after polling 319,224 votes.

His closest challenger, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured 40,543 votes, while Mr. Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 12,872 votes.

INEC further disclosed that 384,940 voters were accredited for the election, with 375,777 valid votes cast and 6,332 rejected ballots.
