The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has disclosed that he met with British government officials and Nigerians living in the diaspora during a visit to London.

Obi said the meetings focused on ways to rebuild Nigeria and tackle poor leadership, corruption and lack of accountability, which he identified as major challenges to the country’s development.

The former Anambra State governor revealed this in a post on his X handle on Thursday.

He explained that he arrived in London from Basel, Switzerland, at 7 am on Wednesday, October 21, before meeting with various stakeholders in the United Kingdom.

Obi added that he ended the day at a meeting organised by the COPDEM chief and the NDC Director of Diaspora Affairs, which brought together other stakeholders in London.

According to him, the discussions highlighted the need for Nigerians to work together to overcome poor leadership and other challenges holding the country back.

He lamented that these problems had left millions of Nigerians struggling to access basic necessities, including quality healthcare, education and decent jobs.

Obi stressed that Nigerians deserved a country where every citizen was valued, hard work was rewarded and everyone had equal opportunities to succeed, regardless of their background or connections.

“We must build a Nigeria where the child of nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody,” he said.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate added that the country must be transformed into one that serves the interests of all Nigerians rather than a privileged few.
