of the Oyo State Police Command, working alongside local hunters and other security agencies, have killed three suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted victim during a security operation in Otu, Oke-Ogun area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to him, the operation began after local hunters on a hunting expedition in Otu reported coming under attack from suspected kidnappers on Monday. No casualty was recorded among the hunters.

Following the distress call, a joint security team made up of police operatives, local hunters, and other security personnel was immediately deployed to the area.

On arrival, the suspects reportedly opened fire on the team, leading to a gun battle. However, the security operatives overpowered the criminals and neutralised three suspected kidnappers.

The operation also led to the rescue of a kidnapped victim, identified as Mr. Mosudi Gbolagade, who was abducted at Okaka and held captive in the Otu area.

Police said the victim sustained gunshot injuries during the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment. One local hunter was also injured during the exchange of gunfire and has been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Security operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle without ammunition, one single-barrel gun, and a machete from the scene.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State commended the bravery of the local hunters and other security stakeholders for their support and cooperation during the operation.

The command also assured residents of its commitment to continue fighting criminal activities across the state while urging members of the public to provide timely and useful information to security agencies.
