Truly that was how we grew up here in Lagos in the 70s. However, as someone who spent the last decade living with ordinary Nigerians in downtown Lagos, I can attest that these noble values are today, almost entirely gone. There's so much self centeredness, tribalism and other foreign cultures that have come in to erode our traditional values, and the society is paying a huge price for it.
