A renewed cult fight in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State has reportedly resulted in the deaths of two more people with scores sustaining gunshot injuries.

Last weekend, members of a competing cult fraternity got into another violent altercation that resulted in the deaths of the suspects in various locations of Abeokuta.

It was earlier reported that two alleged cultists were slain in Abeokuta last week.

This publication also discovered that among the deceased were members of the fraternities belonging to Aiye, Eiye, and Buccaneer.

The execution of Oloba, a well-known alleged cultist, on Thursday marked the beginning of the terror reign in the state capital, while Tayo Alora, another victim, was killed on Sunday

The occurrences were confirmed by Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ogun State Police Command, during an interview.

Two more people have been slain, the police spokesperson said.

Odutola identified one Seun Elewode as a member of the Aiye cult group who was slain during a firefight between rival cult groups in the Adeun neighbourhood of Lafenwa, Abeokuta.

She further said that a suspected Buccaneer fraternity member was slain in the town’s Akinolugbade neighbourhood.

“One Seun Elewode, a notorious member of the Aiye cult group who just returned from prison was attacked and shot dead at Adeun, Lafenwa, in Abeokuta.

“He was shot dead during a shoot out at their hideout in a cool spot during a birthday party.

“On February 4, around 10:45 pm in Oshungboye crescent in Akinolugbade, a suspected cultist was shot dead, while another was shot in the chest,” Odutola said.

On the other hand, she claimed that 11 individuals had been taken into custody for the murders.

Oluga Abiola, Olamilekan Abiodun, Olarenwaju Michael, Jimoh Okewole, Wasu Tolulope, Abiodun Adeyemi, Muiz Adeyemi, Adebowale Saheed, Adebowale Ayoola, David Oviem, and Adebowale Olayori were among those she listed as being arrested.
