Arise Television’s Morning Show anchor, Rufai Oseni, has said President Bola Tinubu can govern Nigeria remotely from France if he chooses to do so.

Oseni made the comment on Tuesday while discussing Tinubu’s continued absence from the country and his recent foreign trips.

He argued that Nigerians should not complain about the President’s frequent travels because they voted for him despite his preference for spending extended periods abroad.

“You get what you vote for, and I don’t know why Nigerians are complaining,” Oseni said.

According to the presenter, Tinubu has demonstrated that he is comfortable spending significant periods outside Nigeria, adding that his recent trips reflect his established approach to governance.

Oseni also questioned the cost and economic benefits of the President’s foreign trips, particularly reports that about N37 billion had been spent on such travels.

He said his concern was not about proposed investments or memoranda of understanding but about actual investments that had materialised in Nigeria as a result of the trips.

The presenter further criticised Tinubu’s absence amid the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners in Niger State, saying the President could have returned to Nigeria to personally oversee the government’s response to the incident.

Oseni said Tinubu could have returned “even for the sake of optics” and demonstrated his presence while directing an investigation into the deaths.

However, he acknowledged that if the President believed he could effectively perform his duties from abroad, he could continue to do so.

“If he thinks he can direct from abroad, I mean, even the likes of his spokespeople have said he can direct from abroad. He can work anywhere. He can even run the country remotely,” Oseni said.

He added that, ultimately, Nigerians elected Tinubu and should therefore expect the style of leadership he has demonstrated.
