member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has declared his unwavering commitment to the party, stating that he has no intention of leaving despite its ongoing internal challenges.

Lamido made the remarks on Saturday at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting held in Dutse, Jigawa State, where party leaders gathered to deliberate on the party’s future in the face of internal disputes and rising defections.

Speaking at the meeting, the former governor criticised politicians who have abandoned the PDP for other platforms, particularly smaller parties. He maintained that loyalty should not be shaken by temporary difficulties.

“The PDP is my political home. It may have its problems, but it remains my home, and I will not leave it,” he said.

Drawing an analogy, Lamido likened defections to abandoning one’s family during hard times, stressing that such actions do not provide lasting solutions. He argued that the party’s challenges should instead be addressed through collective effort and internal reforms.

Lamido also raised concerns about what he described as attempts by some defecting politicians to dominate smaller parties, specifically mentioning the African Democratic Congress (ADC). According to him, such moves could threaten the stability and integrity of those platforms.

“They left a larger political home only to attempt to take over smaller ones established by others,” he noted.

He urged PDP members to remain steadfast and work together to rebuild the party, expressing confidence that unity and dedication would help restore its strength and credibility ahead of future elections.

Lamido further called on party loyalists to update their membership records and participate in voter registration efforts in preparation for the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the importance of grassroots mobilisation in the party’s recovery strategy.
