“I started selling jeans from Katangowa Market, then expanded into office wear and lace fabrics,” she recalls. “By the time I finished my OND, I had a thriving business making millions and buying a car—not for luxury, but necessity.”

Her ability to spot opportunities led her into telecoms, travel, and finance. Even setbacks—like losing her telecom business after relocating to the UK—only fueled her reinvention. She pivoted into travel, where her company grew from ₦10 million to an astonishing ₦850 million in monthly sales.

“We don’t just hire—we invest,” she says. “We train and employ young people, ensuring they can continue their education while working with us. Many have gone on to work for top travel agencies.”

Through the DAO Foundation, she provides scholarships, supports market women, and leads microfinance initiatives that empower small business owners. Her annual December event in Onicha-Olona has become a beacon of hope, offering food, education, and opportunities to the community.

With such a strong influence, many speculate that Dr. Ochei will enter politics, but she dismisses the idea.

“My calling is different. I make an impact from behind the scenes,” she says. “I’ve faced opposition because people assume I have political ambitions, but I’m not interested.”

Her focus remains on social impact, particularly in education and integrity. She believes financial discipline and ethical leadership are crucial, which is why she champions forensic accounting—not just for investigation, but for prevention.

For young entrepreneurs, Dr. Ochei’s advice is clear:

Don’t expect quick profits. “In accounting, we call it ‘normal loss.’ Many give up too soon.”
Separate personal and business finances. “If you keep withdrawing from your business without proper accounting, it will fail.”
Have multiple income streams. “Industries change overnight. That’s why I do telecoms, travel, finance, and water.”
Budget wisely. “At the start of the year, outline expected income and expenses. Track and review your performance.”

Despite her busy schedule, Dr. Ochei prioritizes self-care. “Success isn’t just about money—health is wealth,” she says. She enjoys aerobics, swimming, tennis, reading, and traveling. Most importantly, she cherishes time with her family.
