rian international William Troost-Ekong has tipped England to defeat Norway in Saturday's quarter-final clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The highly anticipated encounter will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, with both teams battling for a place in the semi-finals.

England booked their spot in the last eight after a dramatic 3-2 victory over co-hosts Mexico in the Round of 16, despite playing with 10 men following Jarell Quansah's red card. Norway, meanwhile, produced one of the tournament's biggest surprises by defeating five-time champions Brazil 2-1, thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland.

Thomas Tuchel's side has continued its impressive run in major tournaments, while Norway is featuring in its first-ever World Cup quarter-final after ending a 28-year absence from the competition.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, Troost-Ekong said England have a slight advantage but expects a closely contested match.

"I think England just has the edge over Norway. Norway has already achieved something special, but England has the quality to go through," he said.

The former Super Eagles captain praised Harry Kane, revealing they played together in the youth ranks at Tottenham Hotspur.

"I've known Harry Kane since we were kids at Tottenham. He's a very complete striker, and I don't think he gets the credit he deserves because of how consistently he has performed over the years," Troost-Ekong added.

He also highlighted Jude Bellingham as another player capable of making the difference for England and predicted an exciting contest between Kane and Norway's star striker, Erling Haaland.

"I don't think it will end goalless or in a draw. It will be a real battle between Kane and Haaland, but I believe England will come out on top," he said.
