Two United States service members have been killed during a military operation in Jordan, while another remains missing, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed.

In a statement released on Saturday, CENTCOM said four other American service members were injured during the operation but have since been treated at hospitals in Jordan and discharged.

The U.S. military said the casualties occurred while American and partner forces were defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.

Authorities did not disclose the identities of the deceased, the missing service member or those injured, noting that further details would be released after their families had been formally notified.

According to CENTCOM, 16 U.S. service members have been killed and more than 430 wounded since the conflict began.

The development came shortly after Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, warned that the United States would face "unforgettable lessons" if it continued its military attacks on Iran.

In remarks broadcast on Iranian state television, Khamenei described the signature of U.S. President Donald Trump as "worthless and invalid" and accused Washington of violating the interim agreement signed about a month ago.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, also announced that Tehran had suspended its commitments under the agreement, accusing the United States of failing to honour its obligations.

Meanwhile, hostilities between the two countries have continued to intensify, with both sides exchanging strikes targeting military installations and critical infrastructure.

The conflict has increasingly centred on the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic shipping route through which nearly one-fifth of the world's crude oil passes, raising concerns over global energy supplies and regional stability.

CENTCOM said its latest round of overnight strikes targeted Iranian surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities and maritime capabilities.

The renewed escalation has heightened fears that the conflict could spread further across the Middle East, threatening civilian infrastructure and disrupting essential services in the region.
