For some Nigerians, he represents discipline, structure, and difficult but necessary economic correction. For others, he has become the face of policies many citizens blame for hardship, inflation, and the rising cost of living and perhaps that is what makes the current moment so important.

Nigeria is no longer simply debating personalities. It is debating direction.

Since the beginning of the current administration, the country has undergone some of the most aggressive economic reforms in recent history. Fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate reforms, tax restructuring conversations, debt management efforts, and new investment drives have all been tied closely to the economic team led by Edun.

Transport costs remain high. Food prices continue to strain households. Small businesses battle unstable purchasing power. Supporters of the reforms argue that Nigeria inherited structural problems that could no longer be postponed. In their view, short-term hardship is the price for long-term stability.

Critics, however, argue that reforms without adequate social protection place too much burden on ordinary people.
