President Bola Tinubu has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his commitment to infrastructure development, describing him as “Mr Project” and saying project delivery is embedded in his DNA.

Tinubu made the remarks on Tuesday during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Southern Parkway Service Carriageways in Abuja. The President was represented at the event by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.

According to the President, Wike has successfully replicated in the FCT the developmental strides he was known for during his tenure as Governor of Rivers State.

“Most people thought the title ‘Mr Project’ was only applicable in Rivers State, but you have clearly shown that it is in your DNA. Through your actions, you have demonstrated that you are truly Mr Project,” Tinubu said.

He commended the minister for reviving abandoned projects, setting clear targets and delivering results within record time.

“Since assuming office, you have awakened abandoned projects, brought discipline, vision and political will to the FCT. You are effectively implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda across Abuja, and Nigerians can see the transformation taking place,” he added.

Tinubu also highlighted the importance of the Southern Parkway project, noting that it would improve traffic flow and connectivity across several districts when completed.

He explained that residents of areas such as Durumi, Kudu, Gaduwa, Jikwoyi and nearby mass housing estates currently face severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours.

According to him, the completion of the service carriageways will significantly reduce travel time, ease movement and improve the quality of life for residents.

“This is the dividend of democracy and the Renewed Hope Agenda that people can see and feel in their daily lives,” he said.

The President further stated that the project forms part of his administration’s broader infrastructure agenda, which has seen major road projects executed across Abuja over the past three years.

He expressed confidence that the Southern Parkway Service Carriageways would accelerate development in the southern corridor of the FCT and deliver lasting economic and social benefits to residents.
